What makes someone a leader? There are multiple bases for leadership, including whether a person is charismatic, possesses a certain level of expertise, or has attained some level of success that others admire and respect. As a project lead, the initial basis of your leadership is your position of authority and status as a leader. In some cases, though, you may not have the managerial influence you’d like to achieve your project goals. Developing other bases of leadership will improve your ability to achieve results and greater effectiveness as you lead your team.
Not all leaders are the same; different leaders embody or employ different styles based on their experience, team composition, and organizational culture. Several of the most common leadership styles are outlined in the diagram below.
